Upgrade könnte Nachfrage von Ethereum ankurbeln

Ethereum (ETH) und sein Ökosystem halten die Stellung. In den letzten sieben Tagen ist der Preis von ETH um circa 12 Prozent gestiegen – und folgt damit der Entwicklung des Bitcoin. ETH profitiert vor allem von der Nachfrage und Unterstützung durch große institutionelle Kunden im ersten Halbjahr dieses Jahres. Bemerkenswert ist, dass die Korrelation zwischen ETH und BTC seit 2016 etwa 67 Prozent beträgt.
Wir bei 21Shares sind davon überzeugt, dass das lang erwartete und für heute angekündigte Ethereum-Upgrade namens EIP-1559 die Nachfrage nach ETH ankurbeln wird. Darüber hinaus stärkt es das Narrativ von ETH als knappen Rohstoff, der als Treibstoff für die DeFi- und NFT-Ökosysteme (NFT steht für „Non-fungible Token“ - zu deutsch: nicht austauschbarer Token) dient. Der NFT-Sektor ist momentan der Haupttreiber des Wachstums bei Ethereum, so wie es DeFi im letzten Sommer war, als das wöchentliche Handelsvolumen zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte 300 Millionen Dollar überstieg. NFTs zeigen in diesem Jahr, dass diese Innovation weit über als nur dem Kunstmarkt hinausgeht. Das verdeutlicht beispielsweise der Sektor E-Gaming, wo Axis Infinity in den letzten 30 Tagen 17-mal bzw. rund 200 Millionen US-Dollar mehr Umsatz als DeFi-Dienste generierte.

Das Netzwerk-Upgrade soll den Nutzern von Ethereum die Berechnung der Transaktionsgebühren erleichtern, die sie für die Interaktion mit dezentralen Finanzdienstleistungen und den Kauf von NFTs mit ETH zahlen müssen. Zu diesem Zweck wird eine Mindestgebühr festgelegt, die von den Nutzern zu zahlen ist und anschließend dauerhaft aus dem Ethereum-Angebot entfernt wird. Das bedeutet, dass bei steigender Nachfrage ein deflationärer Druck auf Ethereum entstehen wird, so wie es auch bei vielen anderen begehrten Rohstoffen wie z.B. Öl funktioniert.
