Was sind die Gründe für die jüngste Marktkorrektur?

Unseren Analysen zufolge wurde der anfängliche Verkaufsdruck in den letzten Tagen vor allem durch anfängliche Verkäufe getrieben (wahrscheinlich große Investoren, die ihr Bitcoin-Engagement reduzierten), angeführt von der durch Elon Musk ausgelösten negativen Stimmung rund um Bitcoins, Klimaemissionen und in gewissem Maße auch durch den längst überfälligen US-Tax Day (US-Einkommensteuererklärung) am 17. Mai. Verstärkt wurde dies durch erzwungene Verkäufe aufgrund der automatischen Liquidationen von Händlern, die bei Bitcoin und Ethereum gehebelte Long-Positionen hielten.
Die nächsten Tage und Wochen sind wichtig, um ein gutes Gefühl dafür zu bekommen, inwieweit die Nachfrage nach der Korrektur bestehen bleibt. Unsere eigenen Indikatoren - Anzeichen für ein starkes fundamentales Wachstum und ein anhaltend starkes Angebot von professionellen Anlegern - deuten auf positive Signale hin. Andere gängige Argumente für den Abschwung wie die gerade vergangene Steuersaison in den USA oder grundlegende Veränderungen im regulatorischen Umfeld - etwa aufgrund von Klimasorgen oder Maßnahmen in China - überzeugen uns nicht. Keiner dieser Faktoren kann als grundlegender Grund für den Absturz des Marktes angesehen werden, da dieser wahrscheinlich durch eine Mischung aus zu viel Leverage innerhalb des Marktes und dem Abbau von Positionen einiger der größeren Bitcoin-Halter getrieben wurde. Das Diagramm unten verdeutlicht, dass die Anzahl der Positionen von Bitcoin-Haltern, die Bitcoin seit einem bis sechs Monaten halten, seit März leicht gesunken ist.

Einsteigen, aussteigen, halten - was tun?

Es gibt zwei wichtige Elemente, die wir immer beleuchten. Erstens haben sich die Grundlagen nicht geändert. Krypto ist eine aufstrebende Anlageklasse, die darauf abzielt, das Backend der traditionellen Finanzsysteme zu verbessern. Korrekturen sind eine Reaktion auf die Tatsache, dass wir uns immer noch in den frühen Anfängen des Lebenszyklus der Akzeptanz befinden, da nur 2,5 Prozent der Internetbevölkerung Krypto-Nutzer sind. Bitcoin ist in vielerlei Hinsicht ein besseres Asset als Gold, obwohl das Edelmetall aufgrund seiner Historie im Vorteil ist. Es ist digital nativ und überall mit einer Internetverbindung zugänglich, es ist transparenter, überprüfbar, programmatisch knapp und einfacher zu lagern als Gold. Ethereum war der Vermögenswert mit der besten Performance in den letzten fünf Jahren und hat die Demokratisierung von Finanzdienstleistungen durch die Abschaffung von Zwischenhändlern ermöglicht.
 
Zweitens sind rund die Hälfte aller Marktteilnehmer langfristige Investoren, die den Vermögenswert vor mehr als einem Jahr gekauft haben. Der meiste Verkaufsdruck kommt von Neueinsteigern und gehebeltem Handel. Zum Beispiel haben in den letzten 24 Stunden 74 Prozent der Händler, die Bitcoin in den letzten sechs Monaten gekauft haben, ihre Positionen verkauft oder wurden an den Futures-Börsen dazu gezwungen. Diese beiden Faktoren sind Gründe, warum wir nicht glauben, dass sich etwas Grundlegendes am Markt geändert hat und Investoren so reagieren sollten.
